4iP Funding for GymFu

GymFu (that’s Jof Arnold, Jem Gillam and myself) has received just shy of £100,000 funding from 4iP (an angel/investment arm of Channel 4) to work on a new project improving the health of the nation in bitesize chunks. This is obviously very exciting for us all, but I’m afraid we can’t tell you any more until details are firmed up, though I can tell you that you should see output from this project by the middle of next year. Benjie is an experienced software consultant specialising in helping companies to rapidly architect and build reliable, fast and secure applications using best practices and a deep understanding of todays powerful technologies such as ES2017+, Node.js, PostgreSQL, GraphQL, and React.

Graphile is Benjie’s current passion project - enabling you to build powerful, performant and extensible GraphQL APIs very rapidly. It’s the core of PostGraphQL v4, a popular open source project he maintains that, with just a simgle command, creates an entire well-structured and standards compliant GraphQL API by reflection over a PostgreSQL database!

You’ll often find Benjie working with the awesome Jof Arnold trying to solve people problems - they’ve a long history of delivering great results for customers, their various skills complementing each others perfectly.

Previously founder of SoutHACKton and co-founder of the resulting Southampton Makerspace, he lives in Southampton (UK) with his incredible wife Jem Gillam and their sons Xander and Zack.

No stranger to public speaking, Benjie enjoys giving programming talks; and is not one to shy away from a live tech demo! Many of his past talks can be found among his many GitHub repositories.
